Scripture Text: Proverbs 3:13-15
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding,
for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Proverbs 3:13-15
Wise men are very rare today, only a few good men who can gain understanding. ln our present time, there are lots of relative wisdom that comes only to human mind and creates lot of damage to the one who gains it. For example, he used his wisdom to cheat others for self-gain. Stealing ideas of others and claiming it as his own is a bad effect of undesirable behavior from corrupt hearts of men. That is why we need true wisdom that only comes from God.
In the Bible, Joseph the Dreamer has nothing. He didn't even have his upper garment when he was sold and taken to Egypt. But Joseph always listened to his father's advice and he never forgot the commandments of the Lord. While Joseph was living in Egypt, the Lord was always by his side, teaching him how to acknowledge good from evil. His early years in Egypt was full of misery but he never lost faith because he has godly wisdom to interpret dreams. Until one day, Pharaoh recognized Joseph as his second- in-command to take charge of Egypt because of his wisdom. Pharaoh told Joseph, "since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.” (Genesis 41:39-40).
So if a man finds wisdom, he finds life and honor. The benefits of wisdom are more precious than anything that could be gained on earth, like silver, gold, and rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with the wisdom that comes from God alone. So as Christians, let us start reading the Bible that is full of wisdom to gain understanding, because it is better than precious stones—it is life and peace from the Lord. Get wisdom now!
