Benefit of a Righteous Person

Scripture Text: Proverbs 10:21

The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of sense.

Proverbs 10:21

Many will be saved if one wise person knew the best solution to the problem. When a righteous man speaks with wisdom, he can save lives especially if he consults the wisdom given by our Lord.

I remember Daniel, when he heard the news that the wise men of Babylon are to be executed if they do not interpret the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar. These wise men said that there is not a man on earth who can do what the King asks. They said, "What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods." The wise men do not know how to interpret Nebuchadnezzar's dream.

However, Daniel pleaded for mercy from the God of Heaven concerning this mystery of the dream, then God was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Daniel went to the king and said the interpretation of the king's dream. Daniel told the King that no wise man can explain the dream except the true God in Heaven who reveals mysteries. The Great God has shown the King what will take place in the near future. The dream is true and the interpretation is trustworthy. Then Daniel received a high position: King Nebuchadnezzar made him a ruler over the entire Province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. Daniel never forgot his friends and requested that the King appoint Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as administrators over the Province of Babylon while Daniel himself remained at the royal court. The lips of the righteous nourish many and Daniel is one of the righteous men of God.

When time passed by, another trouble occurred, wicked administrators wanted him to be trapped. These wicked persons tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs but were unable to do so because Daniel was not corrupt, he was very trustworthy and was never negligent. The only accusation to him was he was loyal to God—three times a day, he got down on his knees to pray and give thanks to God.

At that time, there was a decree that during the next thirty days, King Darius should be the only one to be prayed to and the offender of this decree will thrown into the lions' den. The wicked men accused Daniel for praying to the living God and he was caught worshipping God. Because of this, Daniel was thrown into the lions' den as the law of Medes and Persians says, which cannot be repealed. But God helped Daniel not to be hurt until he was lifted from the den, while the wicked men who falsely accused Daniel were thrown into the den—the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

The proverbs say "...but fools die for lack of judgment." So, as Christians, we must always consult God first for a solution so that many will be nourished with our godly decisions.

Reflect

1. Does your tongue speak the truth?

2. When do you say words that encourage others?

Remember

When a righteous man speaks the word of wisdom, there is benefit. God will give right understanding to those who seek His wisdom to nourish many.

Read

Daniel 2:24-49, 6:1-28; Revelation 18:1-24; Deuteronomy 8:1-9

Pray

Dear Lord, thank You for wisdom that only comes from You. May I always speak the right words to encourage others. Always guide me and give me understanding to judge and make right decisions. This I pray, in Jesus' Name. Amen.
