She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, as for he will save his people from their sins.

Many people in the Philippines are happy when the "ber months" are approaching because it marks the beginning of their most awaited season, which is December 25 — Christmas Day. This is the traditional day that commemorates the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. However, the sad aspect of this celebration in the Philippines is that many people are happy for different reasons. For them, it's a month where they can have fun with their families, receive bonuses, and exchange gifts with their "ninong" and "ninang."
On the contrary, many people in the Philippines do not fully understand the significance of this season, which is the birth of the Lord Jesus. All they know is to celebrate it based on the traditions they grew up with.
So the question is, what is the reason for the birth of the Lord Jesus? — to save people from their sins.
In the book of Matthew, Jesus wants his fellow Jews to understand that the Messiah's purpose is not to become their king and rescue them from the hands of their conquerors. As stated in the book of Luke, when one of the Lord Jesus's followers said on their way to Emmaus, "We were hoping that he would be the one to free Israel. But then all this happened. And now something else: It has been three days since he was killed."
We can see here that they were saddened because the Messiah, whom the Jews hoped would be their king, died to save them from the hands of the Romans. However, this is not the primary reason why the Lord Jesus was born. The real reason God the Father allowed this to happen is to save His people from their sins, through faith in the only Begotten Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ.
My fellow believers, just like Apostle Matthew, may we share this truth with our family, relatives, friends, and neighbors: the real reason why the Lord Jesus Christ was born is to save us from our sins.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to all You had promised, especially to send a Savior for us, not to save from any slavery, but from the slavery of our sins. Thank You for Your unending grace to us.
