Knowledge is Power

Scripture Text: Ecclesiastes 7:11-12

Wisdom is good with an inheritance, an advantage to those who see the sun.

Ecclesiastes 7:11

To have a discipline to acquire wisdom is too hard for the fool who hates to learn more. But to the wise, he loves to search for knowledge and wisdom. The wise is never exhausted to learn more and more. Why? Because knowledge and wisdom is power. If a person acquired wisdom, he has more confidence to enjoy life. Even in the midst of hard times, he can manage to cope up and adjust in a particular situation.

I was impress with people, especially with our Filipino soldiers, who can think fast in times of need. They have plenty of ideas that were very helpful; like for example in survival in the jungle, these soldiers will never go hungry. They knew where to find food and water, how to cook without kitchen utensils. They can built their shelter with the materials around them. They can hunt wild animals using their bare hands. They can survive in the jungle and that is impressive.

We as Christians are also soldiers of Christ. We are equipped with knowledge and wisdom from God. A Christian can also survive and have spiritual wisdom to apply in life; that wisdom is the most impressive wisdom. Wisdom is supreme, therefore, obtain it though it costs all that you have.

The writers of the Book of Proverbs point out that choosing instruction or wisdom is better than silver. Knowledge is better than gold. Like Solomon, he prayed for godly wisdom to govern his earthly kingdom and to manage the people of God under his rules. The Book of Proverbs and the Book of Ecclesiastes recommend for us to search for knowledge and wisdom which will be found only in the Bible. Always read the Scripture to gain knowledge and wisdom because it is like money, and the advantage of knowledge is this: that the wisdom preserves the life of its possessor.

So Christians, what are you waiting for? Start reading the book of knowledge of God. Read the Bible everyday.

Reflection

1. What are your favorite books to read?

2. Do you feed your mind with godly wisdom?

3. Do you learn from your experience? Do you apply that knowledge?

Remember

Wisdom is better than gold or silver. You are gifted if you seek diligently the wisdom that comes from God.

Pray

Dear Lord, create in us the discipline of diligently reading Your Word everyday. Always guide us to gain knowledge and wisdom. Give us more experience to learn Your words and apply it into our lives. Thank You, Lord. In Jesus' Name, amen.
