Door of Wisdom

Scripture text: Proverbs 8:34-35

Blessed is the one who listens to me,

watching daily at my gates,

waiting beside my doors.

For whoever finds me finds life

and obtains favor from the Lord,

Proverbs 8:34-35

Wisdom is the instruction from the Lord. Wisdom is the way of God to communicate to us to receive His blessing and favor. The proverb tells us to listen, watch, and wait for wisdom at His door and His doorway. What does this mean? The Bible has an answer.

Remember in the Old Testament when Moses wanted to consult and wanted advice from the Lord, he went in the tent of meeting outside the camp. In Exodus 33:7-8, it says,

Now Moses used to take a tent and pitch it outside the camp some distance away, calling it the 'tent of meeting'." Anyone inquiring of the Lord would go to the tent of meeting outside the camp. And whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people rose and stood at the entrances to their tents, watching Moses until he entered the tent.

Entrance at the tent is the doorway to speak with God face to face, as a man speaks with his friend. When Moses wants instruction, he just goes there to have a conversation with God. King David also went to the tent were the ark of God resides. He entered to the tent to know the will of the Lord, and he loved to dwell in the tent were God resides. David was a blessed man who found favor from God. He said "goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life", because David was eager to listen to the will and instruction of God; King Solomon also, who built the temple where the presence of the Lord resides, where the people can cry to hear their prayers.

In the New Testament, Jesus our Lord, when He teaches the disciples how to pray, He said to go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen—meaning, have a conversation by means of praying. We Christians will wait for the wisdom and instructions of God. Listen to the Lord's will and apply it to our daily life. Like our Lord Jesus Christ, we must come always in prayer and go to our door—that door is our Lord who will give us wisdom.

Brother and sister, have time with the Lord, listen to His instruction, and we will receive favor from God.

Reflect

1. Do you have time devoted to God?

2. Do you consult first the Lord for your decision making?

Remember

Jesus Christ symbolized the door that we must enter to receive His favor and blessing. So we must enter into it to live life to the fullest. Know the wisdom of God.

Pray

Dear Lord, I thank You for the opportunity to have conversation with You every time I went in prayer. I know You hear my petitions and requests and I am grateful to thank You for having my prayers granted. This I pray in Jesus' Name. Amen.
