Scripture Text: Proverbs 2:6-8
For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
Proverbs 2:6
When we were just a little one, we were taught by our parents how to work on some little things that we can do. They told us, to know the answer, to know how to fix it, to show where your toys are and so on. Then every time we recognized their commands they said to us, you are smart, that was great, excellent, very good and appreciate it. Children develop learning when they get older. They went to school for them to learn more about life until they finished the higher degree of education and that is good.
However, after we gathered all the knowledge and all the facts, what is next? We need to find wisdom from God. The wisdom that can protect us from harm, that can lead us in the straight paths of life and wisdom in living an honest way of lifestyle.
Where can we find this godly wisdom? Of course in the revealed word of God. Because God grants wisdom to His faithful ones. Like His servant Solomon, when he had the privilege to request for something from the Lord he requested for having godly wisdom. 1 Kings 4:29-30 says "God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight and breath of understanding as measureless as sand on the seashore."
Solomon's wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all men of the east and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt. By those godly wisdom, Solomon governed the people of Israel and he distinguished between right and wrong to make sound judgment.
What are the advantages of a Christian having the wisdom of God? First, in having wisdom we acknowledge the fear of the Lord, then the Lord holds victory in store for the upright. Second, wisdom guards our heart to the course of life. Lastly, is the wisdom that protects the way of His faithful ones.
When the Lord pleases His faithful ones, He grants godly wisdom to them. Thus, we as Christians must thirst for having wisdom from the Lord. We must always pray to have more wisdom, to read and to search the revealed Word of God and to gain more wisdom. Reading the word of God everyday should be our habit, because God’s wisdom will guide us on how to live pleasingly in His eyes as our Creator. All we need to do is to search for it and we will find it.
Reflect
1. Do you search for Godly wisdom?
2. Are you satisfied with your knowledge?
3. Do you apply Godly wisdom in your daily life?
Remember
Godly wisdom comes only from God. It will protect, guide and guard our heart to the right paths of life. Always ask God for wisdom to live a peaceful life.
