The Truth: Above Ideology

Scripture Text: Colossians 2:6-10

Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him,

Colossians 2:6

The belief system has been divided when men continually try and aim to seek wisdom and truth from different aspects of life, principles, and philosophies, and based it from different sources, perspective, experiences and logical "truth". The wisdom and truth of existence and the purpose of man here on earth, and the purpose of everything that is existing here on earth are some of the major topics.

Aristotle believed, which most people believe, that the ultimate goal of human beings is to strive for 'eudaimonia' (happiness). Others believe that man's purpose is to live and then die without finding the main purpose which is also a philosophy.

There are so many man-made philosophies that molded our perspective apart from the realities of the Bible, where we can find the only way to walk in this world glorifying the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Apostle Paul warned us because man-made philosophies were present during their time and people outside and inside the church were greatly influenced by them and gone to a point where people couldn't decipher what is right in the sight of man and what is right in the sight of God. He reminded us that since we are already in Christ, we have the Word as the only way of life for Christ and that we should not base our beliefs and principles on how we feel we should live our lives.

It is written on Psalm 119:105 that His word is a lamp and light to our life. We are no longer wandering, living this world because all that we need to know and do is already written in His words and it is our duty to seek Him and continually be established in His words through the Spirit.

My professor told me once that the Word of God shouldn't be tailored according to our size to wear it but we should be the one adjusting to the Word itself for it to fit as it will always be the ship who will adjust to the ocean's waves.

The Word of God is more than just principles and philosophies, but a way of life in accordance to how God wants us to be His proper people. When we've been one with Christ, His authority and His will will always be above any principles that you are holding before you met Christ.

So, let go of all the unbiblical principles that the world is teaching and let the Word and the Holy Spirit renew our mind in Christ Jesus which we should be grateful forever because of this total conversion.

Reflect

1. Are we vigilant enough to decipher the principles of the Lord from those that are defiled by the world?

2. Do we seek the Lord and His Word as the only guide in this life?

3. Are we ready to let go and throw any belief that contradicts the Biblical standards?

Remember

The Word of God must be our way of life as we live in this world in order to be His proper people.

Pray

We pray to You our Holy Father whom we adore and worship, whom owns all created things, who saved us and redeemed us from the deception of this world and revealed to us the truth in Christ. We continually ask for Your Holy Spirit to illumine Your words for us to know Your Son, Jesus Christ, more and more. We are sorry for taking this immense blessing for granted. Your words should be our heartbeat and the only source of our wisdom. Let Your truth be enough to us, show us Your hidden truth in Christ and let us not be tempted to taint Your holy words with what this world believes. Your words are holy, You are holy. In the name of our Holy Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
