The Sovereign Power, the Merciful Lover

Scripture Text: Colossians 1:15-20

And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

Colossians 1:17

There was a time when kingdoms reign in different parts of the earth. Monarchy was once a political system that is commonly applied by countries around the world commonly ruled by a monarch or a king. The leadership is being passed down from generation to generation under one bloodline.

The leadership is meant for the upcoming generation whether the next king would be good or evil. Whatever the king established and made successful, the son or the next king will inherit and this is destined to happen since he will be the next heir of the kingdom and the sovereignty of the next king will be above all powers in the kingdom.

All that is conceivable by the naked eye and those that aren't are of Christ's ownership. His supremacy over all is already destined since He is before anything and is the only reason why all things are created in this world. Without Him, not a trace of life will be found. All life, including those who are away from His presence, rely under His divine grace and mercy.

The rulership of our Lord Jesus transcends not only in the physical world but also in the spiritual realms which is acknowledged not only by the angels, but also those who oppose the Kingdom, thus it was emphasized that He is the Head of the Church, the Groom of His bride and the King of His people. We all know that through Him, by the incomparable sacrifice of His precious blood, we are accepted by our Father.

The hope and assurance that we have is in the King of kings and the Lord of lords, in His holiness and glory. We know that once the Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth to take what is His, everything will fall into order. No drought, no famine, no pestilence, no power on earth nor in heaven can stop what is already destined to happen which will give glory to the Father. That is why we need to acknowledge the sovereignty of our God and trust His heart that in all circumstances, He makes everything good.

Reflect

1. Do we trust the sovereignty of our God to the point of being reliant to God?

2. Does this give us confidence and propel us to follow and advance the kingdom of the Lord since we know that this is the greatest thing a man can have?

3. Does this remind us that we have an all powerful God who is above all things, and brings us to our knees?

Remember

We as His people should be in awe of our Lord Jesus Christ's majesty and power. Our limited minds can never comprehend how and why will a self-existing, holy and glorious One, to whom all things were created, chose us and predestined us to be with His kingdom eternally and be with Him and enjoy His presence forever.

Pray

Our all-powerful, self-existing holy God, we bow down to Your sovereign will as You unfold all Your plans in front of our own eyes. Let our hearts be of peace knowing that You hold the world in Your hands. We know that not an inch of event will happen without Your approval. We know that You are the only hope that we have in this corrupted world. We beg for patience and strength in enduring all hardships as Your good soldier and allow our hearts to speak every day and night. Let Your will be done, Jesus. In Your Name. Amen.
