The End of Hope

Scripture Text: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:17

There is a saying that if a man loses hope, everything starts to be impossible. But, for the people who put their hope in Christ alone, hope will never run out—it will keep us going. One day, we know that our Lord Jesus Christ will come back to us and save us from this decaying world and from our decaying selves.

Apostle Paul reminded the church of Thessalonica that he taught them and made them aware that there is hope after death, this is why they aren't supposed to live their life as someone who is hopeless. The only people who are hopeless after death are the ones who do not believe and follow Jesus Christ.

There assurance and promise that those who truly believe that Christ lived, died, and ascended to heaven will surely be with Him someday whom we will live with for eternity and as a Christian, this should remind us that we ought go to live our lives just like how Christ lived His.

If we are still alive before the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, we will surely see His glorious coming, descending from the heavens, then we will meet the Lord in the air and will be with Him for eternity.

The Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest reward we will ever receive as His follower because this is what every Christian is looking forward to and this will surely give us the excitement and encouragement to continue on living every step of our lives in accordance to the will of God. This will remind us that we will finally see our Beloved, Jesus Christ, and will have fellowship with Him forever.

The end of our hope is the start of the fulfillment of Christ's Promised Second Coming.

Reflect

1. Are you still excited and looking forward to the Second Coming of Christ, or are you caught up in this world and hoping that Christ should not come yet because you are not yet ready?

2. Are you encouraged to hear that the greatest hope that our forefathers are waiting for is nearer than ever?

Remember

The first coming of Christ is the assurance that He will surely return, and our duty as Christians is to share and advance His kingdom while we are waiting for His return.

Pray

Heavenly Father, I adore and praise You. I seek for Your help that as I wait for you, teach me to be a good steward and live my life devoted only to You. Knowing that You will return for Your people should give me strength to carry on in advancing Your kingdom and seeking Your will more and more. Please do not allow me to live my life apart from Your will. In Jesus' Name I pray. Amen.
