The Aftermath of Conversion

Scripture Text: Colossians 1:5-10

...so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Colossians 1:10

During our childhood days, sometimes we come to a point where our parents say, "just trust me, you may not understand now, but someday you will", then let us do things which at first do not make sense. But since we have a relationship with our parents, we do it with hope that everything will be alright while trusting their word.

As we grow up, we realize all of the things that our parents once told us and we know that everything was for the better knowing that our parents will not do us harm.

Our gracious and holy Father has prepared the redemption of His people through our Lord Jesus Christ that we have heard through the Gospel, the Gospel that speaks about His Kingdom for which every true believer is excited about and will drive all believers to grow in grace and truth through the Holy Scriptures or the Bible.

Christians who are in an intimate relationship with God will continuously seek His will through His Word. The will of God is shown to those who seek Him with all his heart (Jeremiah 29:13). This is the promise that we can hold on to while patiently waiting and praying for God to show Himself in His words.

This was the reason why apostle Paul prayed unceasingly—he himself knew that the fruit, manner worthy for the Lord and holiness will never be attainable by man's strength, but only with the strength of the Holy Spirit.

Remember

The only driving force that should keep us on seeking God and His will which instigates us is our love for our Lord Jesus Christ and His words. Our spiritual eyes should continually see that only by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the work of the Father in His Son Jesus Christ, we can continually be transformed, walk in His precepts, and have this renewed mind—living and loving our beloved Lord Jesus Christ which is our only Hope. By then, our lives will be a set-apart vessel that honors the Lord in all that we do.

Reflect

1. Do we still trust the Lord enough that we follow His will even though sometimes things are not yet clear?

2. Do we seek Him with all of our hearts as we trust in following His Word?

3. Do we truly love our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word enough that it instigates us to obey and honor Him?

Pray

Our Holy Father, almighty and glorious, who formed all things from nothing, we are asking for Your abounding grace and mercy to be upon us. Give us a heart that aims to seek You with our whole might, so we may see Your glory through Your words and fall deeply in love with our Lord Jesus Christ. We ask the Holy Spirit to change us from the inside out as we continually follow Your will. You are the center of our lives. Our heart's desire is to honor and follow You. Please allow us to experience You through Your Holy Word and see Christ in it. We ask this in the Name of our beloved Savior, Jesus Christ, amen.
