Sons and Daughters by Faith

Scripture Text: Galatians 3:23-29

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.

Galatians 3:28-29

Have you tried being a part of a family that you were not biologically related to, but people were so kind as if adopted you to be a part of them and you are now enjoying the privileges of being part of that family? That is where we are right now: enjoying the privileges of having faith because of Christ's sacrifice.

Apostle Paul emphasized that God's law is there to guard and protect us, which most Christians don't understand and see the law as purely restrictions. We have to be reminded that this law was given by God wholeheartedly because He wanted us to be protected and guarded against sin, because He set us apart to be different from the world. We were under the guard of the law until Christ came.

Does that mean that we are no longer under the law and can live our lives how we want it to be since Christ came and the guardian is no longer necessary? No, Christ was the Law Himself, personified. This means if He will be denying the law, He'll deny Himself because He is the law.

"We no longer need a guardian" means that since we are now living by faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts us by His word because from the time that we have been justified by faith, we then have a heart that beats only for Christ and His word which is the law.

Faith is imputed in us regardless if we are a Jew or a Gentile. This was reminded by Apostle Paul, that Christ's salvation went beyond what the traditional Jews are used to, which is exclusivity.

Christ's sacrifice was made not only to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles, and we should always remember that it was Christ's decision for us to be a part of His Kingdom by putting in faith in us and grafted us by decision.

For this reason, we are a part of His Holy Kingdom, a priesthood for His purpose. We are His set-apart people. No longer Jews nor Gentile because if one believes and has faith in Christ, then he is an offspring of Abraham. A nation blessed by the Almighty Father. It might not be by blood, but by faith which is more than enough to be His treasured possession.

Reflect

1. Do we see how blessed we are now that we are enjoying the privileges of being part of God's family because of the imputed faith and righteousness in us?

2. Can we see that everyone who has faith in Christ is considered as brother and we should see ourselves and others as how God sees us?

Read

Romans 3:27-30, 11:11-24; 1 Peter 1:4-7

Remember

That it was by faith that you were made a part of God's kingdom. It was the gift of faith that made us be part of His people. Everyone that has the gift of faith that came from Christ can be called sons and daughters of God regardless of your background.

Pray

I pray to You, Father, thanking You for Your everlasting love. A love that exceeds the vile and corrupted sin that adopted me to be part of His Kingdom. I will be forever humbled and grateful to You, my Father. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
