From Ordinary to Extraordinary

Scripture Text: John 2:9-10

When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then the poor wine. But you have kept the good wine until now.”

John 2:9-10

One of my hobbies is watching movies, I enjoy it when I need to relax and unwind. I love to watch action movies where at first, the main character was very simple and can do nothing impressive and then bad guys make fool of him and treat him badly every time. Then at the middle of the story, a drastic change happens. That main character becomes wise and strong and the town starts talking about him. He has defeated all his enemies and lived happily ever after.

In the passage we read, it was a wedding feast in the time of our Lord Jesus. It is a must and only natural that everyone in the community was invited, for it is an insult not to attend the celebration. An event like that was a week-long festivity and needs a careful planning so every people in town will be accommodated. You can never run out of something while the celebration is ongoing. It is unfortunate when they run out of wine, to them this is a very shameful instance because this is breaking their unwritten hospitality culture. Good thing is, there is our Lord—He turned the water into wine, not just an ordinary wine, but the finest and superior one. Hallelujah!

Brothers and sisters, our life is like of that simple and ordinary water that Jesus turned into fine and superior one if we'll just allow Him and let Him hold of our life just like the ordinary people in the Bible that God made great and allowed them to do amazing things in the past. So don't belittle yourself, Jesus will use you for His kingdom and His glory and He will equip and strengthen you for the great task you will do for Him. Remember, you can do everything because He will strengthen you (Philippians 4:13). You are called children, sons, heirs and even the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16). You are from a chosen race, a royal priesthood and a holy nation (1 Peter 2:9). What an identity you have! So don't be discouraged! Always be with Jesus, for He can protect, guide and lift you up in His proper timing.

Reflect

1. Are you feeling tired and exhausted, because things don't happen the way you expected?

2. Have you come to the Lord and placed your anxieties and struggles on Him?

3. What do you think will happen if you let Him take care of all your burden?

4. Are you willing to give Him the control over your life?

Remember

Jesus alone can help us, in whatever moment we are of our life. He can make our simple and ordinary life into great and extraordinary one. Then, we can carry an amazing task and accomplish great things that we could ever wish for the Lord. We just need to be humble, know His will, and follow Him. Don't get tired! In His time, you will shine!

Pray

Lord, my Savior, I thank You for reminding me that nothing is impossible to You. You can help me, and You are always willing to do it. I'm sorry for relying on my self often. Now I know that this is the reason why I easily become tired and exhausted. Let me be like that water, so You can use me for Your glory and honor. So, I can help many to look to You and trust in You. This I pray in Your Name, Jesus. Amen.
