Believe and You Will See

Scripture Text: John 4:50

Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way.

John 4:50

When we are faced with new things and ideas, it is hard to instantly believe and accept. It will take some time and research and oftentimes, we need so much proof and evidence to embrace that new idea.

It is completely different in the case of our passage in the Bible. The Roman official has not seen Jesus performing miracles, he just heard something about the Lord. When he knew that he was at their town, he pleaded for Jesus to heal his son who was dying at that time, and when the Lord told him to "go home, your son will not die", he instantly believed and started his way. His son got well about the time Jesus said His words. As a result, all of the officials in the household believed in the Lord Jesus.

In going to Jesus, we need to believe all He has said in the Bible. Also, we have to believe all that the prophets said about Him, for us to see amazing works and experience all His promises. We just have to believe when He said,

  • "I will give you hope and a good future." (Jeremiah 29:11)

  • "I have loved you with an everlasting love." (Jeremiah 31:3)

  • "I will protect you, even you walk through the valley of the shadow of death." (Psalm 23:4)

  • "I am your healer." (Exodus 15:26)

  • I am your portion." (Psalm 73:26)

Reflect

1. Do you believe in Jesus?

2. Do you believe that He can do all that He has promised?

3. What prevents you from trusting Him?

4. What new paradigm did you discover in the passage?

Remember

If we want to see all the promises of God happen in our life, we just have to believe all that the Bible is saying—no if's, no but's. All things the believers in the past had experienced and how God amazed them by His wondrous works—no doubt, we will also have a taste of those.

Read

Pray

Lord Jesus, I now believe in you, that You can do all things. I thank You because upon trusting You, I'm now secure. You are my Creator, and You want every beautiful thing in life for me. Help me to always trust You and obey You. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
