A Church-Empowering Christian

Scripture Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-21

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

As a part of God’s kingdom, we have to be His proper people, and to be His proper people, it means that we are to help the church be a place where people are being helped, respected, loved, protected, encouraged, and taught by His ways.

We might know in part the sacrifices a pastor and a teacher has made for God’s flock to make sure that they will continually be nourished with God’s word. That is why the Apostle Paul reminded us that we need to respect and love them. These leaders have put God’s people first over themselves and have been selfless for the longest time. Because of this, it is only necessary for us to support and to love them in any way that we can.

Being part of His church doesn't always mean that we are on the height of our spirituality. There are times that we feel discouraged, down, struggling, or may have committed sin. Due to these issues, God wanted us to be with His people so these could be addressed by our co-believers in Christ. Everyone has their own struggle and we have to carry each other's burden with love and do this in light of the Word of God. And, regardless of the situation as an individual or as the church may experience, we have to be joyful in every circumstance knowing that every testing is being allowed by our God for our sanctification, which will be only complete once our Lord Jesus Christ returns. Thus, we need to continuously pray, give thanks, and be grateful in all these things.

Apostle Paul wanted us to refrain from anything that is evil to make sure that all things are done in accordance to the will and word of God and this is the way of life of every believer of Christ Jesus.

Reflect

1. Do we check on our brothers and sisters continually if they are in need of encouragement or prayer?

2. Do we put them first over ourselves?

3. Do we refrain from anything that is not of God's?

Remember

As a Christian and as a part of His church, we have responsibilities with each other. We are accountable to each other since we are in one church, Christ Jesus being the Head. We should never neglect meeting each other and praying for one another.

Pray

I pray to my great and Holy Father who is in heaven to help me be His proper people, so I may be able to function as a good neighbor and brother in Christ. I desire to build up my brethren and carry their burden as we have one goal, and that is to honor You. I pray in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
