The Wisdom of God

Scripture Text : 1 Corinthians 1:17-28

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong.

1 Corinthians 1:27

Christ is the only power of God wherein people can be saved. That is, knowing Christ personally which is the power and wisdom of God anyone can achieve. However, this is only true to those who respond to the call of God to salvation.

Jesus came to offer His kingdom to those who have faith and trust in Him and not to the foolish who does all kinds of good works to try to earn their salvation.

Those God called to salvation, He chose them, and the world considers them foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. God chose those who are despised by the world, those who are counted as nobody at all in their sight.

As God called them, He chose them, and as He chose them, He sent them to preach the good news of salvation to all the world. “As the Father has sent Me, so I send you.” (John 20:21)

Reflect

  1. Have we really heard the call of Christ in our lives?

  2. Do we completely believe, trust, and hope in Christ?

  3. Are we willing to obey Christ as our Lord, Master?

Remember

Knowing Christ personally is the wisdom of God and in Him is the power that one can be saved from the guilt of sin, and the eternal punishment that awaits him. This wisdom is the message of hope—of God’s calling to people—and one is wise when he is able to hear it.

Christ is the answer—He is wisdom!

Pray

Dear heavenly Father, I thank You for the wisdom and power that I have found only in Your Son Jesus Christ; that through Him, I am saved and treasured, unimportant and irrelevant but gives regard to me. Remind me that I am called by You, Lord Jesus, so that I can tell of Your wisdom to the world. In Your Name I pray, amen.
