The Weaker Vessel for a Greater Purpose

Scripture Text: Judges 5:24

“Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, of tent-dwelling women most blessed.

Judges 5:24

In Judges chapter 5, part of the songs of Deborah and Barak was a tent woman named Jael. God used her as a weaker vessel to fulfill the prophesied of Deborah mentioned in (Judges 4:9) that the woman, Jael would receive the honor from the Lord because she did what was pleasing to Him.

When Sisera came to the tent of Jael, she showed hospitality and cared for him. Then she gave fresh milk instead of water until Sisera fell asleep. In that scenario Jael saw an opportunity and she acted immediately to kill Sisera. Jael took a hammer and drove a tent-peg through his head into the ground, and he died (Judges 4:21)

The Lord used Jael as an instrument to show His divine ways and power to the Israelites that even the least and weakest woman in the society would be used by God for His glory and for the sake of His people (Israelites). However, the Israelites disobey and dishonor the Lord always.

Jael's story is a metaphor on how we should fight against our spiritual battles. Today, our battle isn't against a person, it is against the powers of darkness.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).

And the biggest battle we will fight in our lives is "Sin" (not only the Israelites mentioned in the Bible, even us as Christians do also).

Who can help us to free from sins?

The only person who can help us is only Jesus Christ our Lord. We should be constantly ready to run to Him, confess our sins, accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Because He is the one who gives life; He is the one who cancels our debts; and He is the one who nails our sins to the cross once and for all.

That's why the Lord wants His people to be His proper people in His kingdom. He wanted us to be our God forever!

Reflect

1. Do you consider yourself as a weaker vessel for the works in God's kingdom?

2. Do you consider yourself as a weaker vessel in Christ church?

Remember

In Christ kingdom, we are all strong vessels.

Pray

God, our Father, we bless You for You are great in Your ways. You humble the proud, your destroy the strong, You lift up the humble, you establish the weak.

Lord, as weak as we are, thank You for giving us the truth that we are strong in Christ Jesus. Thank You for giving the hope and encouragement, that even if we are of no knowledge nor skill in certain areas of life, You assured us that in the spiritual realms, we are already victorious. Hallelujah!!! Amen!!!
