Scripture Text: Joshua 10:1-15
At that time Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, “Sun, stand still at Gibeon, and moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” And the sun stood still, and the moon stopped, until the nation took vengeance on their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day.
Joshua 10:12-13
The 5 kings of Amorites, Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem, Hoham king of Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of Lachish, Debir king of Eglon (v. 3), joined forces to invade and liquidate the Gibeonites. They hated Gibeon so much because of the peace covenant made to God and to the people of Israel but the king of Jerusalem Adoni-zedek was feared because he knew that the Gibeonites were also a great warriors. Immediately, they attacked the Gibeon City but the people of Gibeon asked help from Joshua for the sake of their covenant to God and to Israel.
The Lord knew and sees everything that's why He commanded Joshua to support and save Gibeon's people and the Lord assured Joshua's triumphs because He was with him (v. 8).
The battle was intense, that's why Joshua prayed and asked for God's favor that the sun would stand still. Promptly, the Lord answered Joshua's request, the sun stood still at Gibeon for about a whole day. The enemies panicked, were shocked, in fear, and were able to understand the scenarios. The Lord also sent a horrified hailstorm to the enemies, and many died.
God showed His mighty power to the enemies, to the Gibeonites and even to the Israelites that He was a true God and King and true to His covenant and promises to His people. He showed to all people the unbelievable and unexplainable phenomenon of the sun and moon mentioned in the passage so that even today's generation up to the last generations would knew that God is the only controller inside and outside the universe. He owns heavens and outside heavens and everything on earth because He made it. God the Father gave the full authority in heavens and on earth only to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Matthew 28:18
And Jesus came and said to them, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand.
Acts 2:36
Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.
Therefore, the covenant with Christ is very important because He is our God, our Lord, our King, our Savior, Creator and has full authority in the past, in the present, and up to eternity. That's why believing and accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior gives eternal life but without Jesus Christ in people's hearts, they will remain enemies of God and will be condemned forever.
John 3:36
Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

2. How about Jesus Christ, does He stand still in your life?
3. Does Jesus Christ have full control over your life?
Remember
God is the Creator and we are His creation. Therefore, He has full control over His creation. That's why we need to obey Jesus faithfully and give our lives to Him wholeheartedly!

Dear God, thank You for allowing me to know the truth deeper, to know more of Jesus and His kingdom. Thank You for Your creation. Thank You because You created me. Thank You because You extended Your grace and mercy to me through Your Son Jesus Christ. I ask the Holy Spirit to guide and control my life to not commit sin against Your will.
