The Source of Success

Scripture Text: Joshua 11:7-23

Just as the Lord had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the Lord had commanded Moses.

Joshua 11:15

The reasons why Joshua had great successes in his life was because the Lord was with him. The Lord was the only source of Joshua's success. There were more characters in the Bible who had a great success in their lives because the presence of the Lord was with them and they did what God wanted them to do for Him to be glorified; such as Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David, God's major and minor prophets and Jesus' apostles / disciples.

Joshua obeyed the Lord with all his heart, soul, mind and strength. He obeyed carefully God's law that Moses commanded him to follow (Joshua 1:7-8). He obeyed God's instructions through Moses on how to conquer the land of Canaan and they totally destroyed all the inhabitants there such as kings, military forces, and people (vv. 7-14, 16-18, 20-22) except the Gibeonites (v 19). Then the land was distributed to the tribes of Israel as their inheritance from the Lord (as fulfilment of God's covenant to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob).

Joshua was a good successor of Moses and he followed everything the Lord commanded him. He loved the Lord, feared and trusted Him, that's why he succeeded with the Lord's presence.

Reflect

1. Who is the source of your success in life?

2. Do you trust Him and obey His will?

Remember

Our Lord Jesus Christ is the only source of everything in heaven and on earth. What do you want from Him? Name it! Pray for it!

Read

Exodus 34:11-12; Deuteronomy 7:2; Joshua 1:7-8; 1 Samuel 18:14; Proverbs 3:4-7

Pray

Dear Lord, I praise You for being my Lord, King, Savior, my source of everything. I thank You for even before time, before the universe was formed, You have chosen me, and all the other believers, to be Your children, to be under your care. It is such a privilege to be so, and obedience to Your commands is easy because blessings and rewards are inevitable. One cannot escape receiving successes after successes when You are respected with obedience. In Your Name. Amen!
