The King Who Gives Victory

Scripture Text: Joshua 11:1-6

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Don’t be afraid of that army, because I will allow you to defeat them. By this time tomorrow, you will have killed them all. You will cut the legs of the horses and burn all their chariots.”

Joshua 11:6

After Joshua invaded the southern part of Canaan, all the kings in the northern part, including the east and west part of the land, were united and joined their forces led by king Javin of Hazor. The armies of all these kings came and joined together into one camp as many as grains of sand on the seashore with many horses and chariots. Then all these kings made plans for the battle against Israel (vv. 1-5).

The Lord God of Israel (the King of all kings and the Lord of all lords) encouraged Joshua not to be frightened because He himself will help him to defeat the enemies. Joshua and his armies totally obeyed God that's why the Lord blessed Israel victory over those kings and their forces.

However, if Joshua and the whole army of Israel wil not obey the Lord's instructions, they will definitely fail. Since Joshua faithfully obeyed and served the Lord, He gave him victory!

This is a good reminder and encouragement for us as God's people on how important it is to follow and obey the Lord in all circumstances of our lives for us to win spiritual battles.

The Lord is the King of all ages, He is immortal, invinsible, mighty, powerful and a savior. He is the King who revealed the coming of the Holy Spirit before He ascended to heaven. He is the King who saved us from eternal condemnation. He is the King whom we worship and serve today through His church. His name is Jesus, the only King who gives us a daily victory!

Reflect

1. Who is your King?

2. Do you obey His instructions?

3. Do you expect victory from Him?

Remember

The King who was served by our spiritual forefathers is the same King that we serve today and forever. His beautiful name is Jesus Christ. He is the only Way to heaven, the only Truth and the only Giver of Life.

Pray

Dear God, I praise You my only Lord, my only Savior, only Way, Truth, and Giver of Life, the only King who gives us victory in all the difficulties of our lives. Thank You for Your daily provision, wisdom, protection, material and financial blessings, and most especially spiritual blessings. Thank You, Holy Spirit, because Your presence is always with me and my family, including my BGCF family. In Jesus' Name. Amen!
