The Euphoria of Divine Romance

Scripture Text: Song of Solomon 1:4

Draw me after you; let us run.

The king has brought me into his chambers.

We will exult and rejoice in you;

we will extol your love more than wine;

rightly do they love you.

Song of Solomon 1:4

Knowing much of God’s love in Christ for us brings us to the only logical desire of being taken away with Him. It is the God-given desire of wanting to be with Him and be one with Him. Who wouldn’t want this Divine Romance? Who wouldn’t want the euphoria that He brings when He, our Lover-Redeemer manifests and displays His heart for you? It is where we truly belong—His heart! It is our secret place, our safest place, where there is no fear, no sorrow, no sin! Here in His love is where we truly belong! Despite of our frailty, our waywardness, He has loved us with an everlasting love! Even more, God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Truly, it is our greatest blessedness to be His beloved [Bride of Christ/Recipient of God’s everlasting love].

When this is your reality—the desire and wanting of communion with Him—you have come to know that your Lover-Redeemer, Jesus Christ is truly worthy of it all! That He is your all-encompassing Lover! Your heart then will truly rejoice and acclaim to everyone “oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him!

Then there goes our never ending need, our hearts unfigured longing, to reside in His very presence forever—“Draw me after you; let us run (v.4a).” It is in the mode of constant pleading for our Lover-Redeemer, that He might draw us closer to Him, for He has once said, “no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him.”—an act of favor, mercy, and kindness! A display of His beautiful heart for His beloved! Then it goes to say now that “The king has brought me into his chambers (v.4b).”—where He has bestowed us His utmost confidence! Where we may freely converse with Him, and enjoy Him! Where we can truly see the fullness of His grace, the richness of His beauties and excellencies, and the perfect brightness of His glory and holiness! Such a bliss for everyone who has come to dwell in His presence!

Therefore it is true that blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple! It is where now our soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the LORD; It is where our hearts and flesh sing for joy to the living God!

Far be it from us to seek anything or everyone else except our Lover-Redeemer! If there is one thing that we should ask for, may it be Him! May it be His presence, His heart, His love, His grace, His blessing, Himself! None but Jesus alone! There we are one with others, “We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you (v.4c).” We now behold His beauties and excellencies as our greatest pleasure! That even the most perfect and accomplished find Him worthy of their highest esteem!

Know this therefore that we will find the desires of our hearts when they find their all in Him, our Lover-Redeemer – Jesus Christ! For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things.

What then are we truly seeking in this life? May the euphoria of this divine romance fuel our hearts to ask this one aim—one thing have I asked of the LORD, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.

Hear this then, dear saint! The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His steadfast love!

Desire communion with Him, who has loved us eternally! Thirst and long for Him! Be in awe of Him—the darling of Heaven! He is all yours… He is all-perfect, all-holy, all-glorious and all-happy! Be exceedingly joyous in being His beloved. If you have truly seen Him, then He is your exceeding joy.

Nobody loves you like He does…

Christ is all that we have! Christ is all that we need!

Take heart, dear saint!

Reflect

1. Is the love of Christ the real source of your fueling joy in this life?

2. Do you really desire to see Him in everything that you are doing?

3. Do you desire and long to love Him more, as you ought to be?

Pray

Father, we come to You in the name of Your Son, to keep on asking and seeking from You the greatest gift, that is to intimately behold the beauties and excellencies of Your Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Give us an exalted view of Him, a higher, wider, deeper view of His love and the happiness that we can find in it—for He is our greatest treasure, our ultimate pleasure. We understand that in His heart is where we truly belong. Please let us see Him in all that we are doing, and please incline our hearts to go after Him and His will in this life. This we pray, in His Holy name, amen.
