How Would You Like Your Legacy to Be?

Scripture Text: Joshua 24:31

Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua and had known all the work that the Lord did for Israel.

Joshua 24:31

Because of God's divine plans, promises, and provisions, some characters, like Joshua, became one of the greatest men in the Bible/human history and God made him one of the greatest ancestors of Israel. God used him to fulfill His covenant by giving Israel a heritage land (Canaan land). God made a legacy for Joshua so that every generation of human kind will remember who God is—His works, His miracles, and His greatness to redeem and save His own people as His heritage.

For they are your people and your heritage, whom you brought out by your great power and by your outstretched arm.’

Deuteronomy 9:29

Truly, Joshua walked in God's righteousness until his last breath. He obeyed, worshiped, and served the Lord until the end of his life on earth. Joshua was a good servant of God because he served both the Lord and the people. He was a good priest because he brought the people to God. He was a good successor because he followed all the instructions of Moses. He was a good fighter, spy, soldier, and warrior. He was a good husband and father to his family. He was a good leader, motivator, encourager, trainer, that's why he prepared and led successfully the whole Israel during his time. He trained leaders and elders to continue God's legacy that's why the Lord made him a famous man in the entire history of human kind. The Lord's presence was with him and He gave him divine favors, victories, wisdom, strength, courage, assurances, and total protection.

The legacy made by God to Joshua would be remembered by all generations forever because this was God's legacy. I pray that Israel today would obey, worship, and serve the true God seriously through our Lord Jesus Christ like the people did in the time of Joshua and the elders, not only the Jews but also that all the Gentile believers and followers of Christ would do the same.

And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders who outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works that the LORD had done for Israel.

Joshua 24:31, Judges 2:7

Therefore, the Lord reminded, encouraged, and challenged those believers and followers of Christ who won the victory:

The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.

Revelation 21:7

Reflect

1. How would you like your legacy to be?

2. Is it the legacy coming from God through Jesus Christ or legacy given by the world?

Remember

The best legacy that believers have is no other than Jesus himself! Because He is our God, our Lord, our King, and our Savior and we are His sons and His kingdom people.

Pray

Dear God, I appreciate and acknowledge the legacy You have given to me through Your Son, Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, Lord Jesus Christ is my legacy forever! I pray that Your legacy will continue up to the last generations through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus' mighty name. Amen!
