God Secures the Future of His People

Scripture Text: Joshua 5:13‭-‬15

When Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him. The man had a sword in his hand. Joshua went to the man and asked, “Are you a friend to our people or are you one of our enemies?” The man answered, “I am not an enemy. I am the commander of the Lord’s army. I have just now come to you.” Then Joshua bowed his face to the ground to show respect and said, “I am your servant. Does my master have a command for me?” The commander of the Lord’s army answered, “Take off your sandals. The place where you are standing is holy.” So Joshua obeyed him.

Joshua 5:13‭-‬15

God really is true to His promises. He sent His angel to protect and lead the Israelites to the place that He prepared for them. Prior to the conquest to the city of Jericho, Joshua met the commander of the Lord's army, he respected and obeyed the angel per the Lord's instructions (Exodus 23:20-23).

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Look, I will let you defeat the city of Jericho. You will defeat the king and all the fighting men in the city."

Joshua 6:2

God really secured the future of His people. He gave them the physical inheritance (land) and eternal inheritance (heaven) to those hearts circumcised through Christ. When Jesus ascended to heaven, He gave us the Holy Spirit as our helper, comforter, counselor, protector, teacher, and giver of wisdom. The Holy Spirit totally protects and leads us to the right path through the kingdom of God.

Therefore, in any battles of our lives, we will not be afraid because Christ is with us forever. We are always on the winning side because God's presence is always with us and we have complete victory through Christ. No one can separate us from the love of God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Our eternal future is secured in Him.

Reflect

1. From whom do you entrust your eternal future?

2. Is your eternal life totally secured?

3. How about your family, are they secured eternally?

Remember

If the Triune God is for us, who can be against us? It means nobody can snatch us and separate us from God through our Lord Jesus Christ, that's why we need Him forever!

Pray

Dear God, thank You because we have a God who gives us the victory in our daily lives through our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank You because our Lord secured our inheritance in heaven. Thank You for the daily protection and wisdom given to us by the Holy Spirit.

Please use our lives to share these heavenly blessings to others especially to our loved ones. Continually bless our home church (BGCF) and all Christian churches around the world and give us more passion to worship You, serve You and make disciples for our Lord Jesus. I ask this in Your Name. Amen!
