Be Strong and Be Brave!

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

Scripture Text: Joshua 10:16-27

Then Joshua said to his men, “Be strong and be brave! Don’t be afraid. I will show you what the Lord will do to all the enemies you will fight in the future.”

Joshua 10:25

The Lord allowed Joshua to defeat the five kings with the help of the mighty God. But during the fight of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon fled and hid in the cave. Joshua found and brought them out from the cave. Then he commanded his great men to put their feet on the neck of five Amorite kings until they died.

Joshua was preparing his great armies for future battles that's why he encouraged them to obey God and give full trust to the Lord because the mighty Lord fought for them. And the mighty Lord gave them the full assurance of victory against the enemies devoted to destruction.

Before Jesus found us, we were devoted also to spiritual destruction and should perish eternally. But God extended His love, grace and mercy to us through His Son Jesus Christ and He saved us! Jesus circumcised our hearts and He gave us a chance to call Him Lord. God wants everyone to be saved and to fully understand the truth (1 Timothy 2:4) that's why apostle Paul urges all followers of God to pray that all people are to be saved eternally (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

The divine gift, which is faith and salvation, is the last chance of people who still live in the world. Those people whose hearts opened for the Lord and believes in the Lordship of Jesus Christ will surely be saved eternally. But for those people who remained as enemies of the cross, they are devoted to destruction and shall perish eternally.

Therefore, Jesus reminded all His genuine followers to be strong and be brave in his/her faith because the enemies will continue to chase them. We are Jesus' armies that's why we have to fight the good fight to keep our faith strong for the Lord.

Reflect

1. Are you an army of truth?

2. Are you strong and brave enough to proclaim the truth?

Remember

Jesus made us strong and brave for the truth. Therefore, we are obliged to proclaim this truth... Jesus is the only everlasting truth! He is the only one way for people to reach God.

Read

Pray

Dear God, thank You because You reminded me again of who I am and where I came from. Thank You for the faith and salvation You have given to me. Thank You for the empowerment and revelation of the Holy Spirit about Jesus as the ultimate truth. I ask the Holy Spirit to make me strong and brave enough to proclaim this everlasting truth (the gospel). Thank You, Lord Jesus. In Your Name. Amen!
