A Sinner's Faith

Scripture Text: Joshua 6:17

And the city and all that is within it shall be devoted to the Lord for destruction. Only Rahab the prostitute and all that are with her in her house shall live, because she hid the messengers whom we sent.

Joshua 6:17

Because of God's grace, Rahab, a Gentile sinner, and all her relatives have been saved from destruction. Her faith in the Lord was particularly remarkable and justified by her works when she helped the two Israelite spies. She knew that Yahweh is the God of Israel and all nations. She acknowledged all His miracles, and knew that the Promised Land was the fulfilment of God's covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. She believed also that the God of Israel was the Creator, Savior, Perfect Judge and true Lord and King. Because of her genuine faith, God made her as one of Israel's ancestors (vv. 22, 23, 25).

Truly, God sees the heart of all people, whether Jew or Gentile, righteous or unrighteous. Because of His love, grace, and mercy, Christians are saved also by God through Jesus Christ. That is why we have no right to boast about our salvation, because it is the gift of God to us. The best thing that we can do is to boast about Jesus Christ to the whole world that He is the only Way, Truth, and Savior for all seasons.

God justifies His forgiveness to us though His Son Jesus Christ, that is why Apostle James reminded all Christ's followers to do what's best and be excellent for our Lord Jesus Christ. Because, He alone did the best for us (He gave His life for us just to be saved eternally).

Therefore, a transformed sinner must show his/her excellence worship, service to our Lord, and faithfully proclaim His gospel to the people. Our Lord promised that He will be with us forever and He assured us that He will strengthen our faith through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Reflect

1. What is the best thing you can offer to our God?

2. Have you acted upon on what you believe is the best you can offer to our God?

3. What results have you gotten since then?

4. Can you say confidently that lives are transformed and are led to belief and obedience to the Lord Jesus?

Remember

Transformed sinners must obey God always and walk according to Jesus Christ's perspective. The center of their lives is Jesus!

Pray

Dear God, thank You for Your kindness and compassion for Your people. Your plan is amazingly beautiful for all those whom You called. You designed everything to be connected to one great future, and that is to bring salvation to all the kingdom people, from being a sinner, to being saved by grace through Your Son, Jesus. With that faith by which you have planted in our hearts, it grew to be a saving faith. Therefore, I ask for double portion of Your anointing that I may be empowered to share to as many people as I can, this Good News, as our response to God's saving grace. This I ask in Jesus' Name. Amen.
